Why is Cypher shutting down? What happens to the CYPR token?
Updated July 7, 2026
This has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make.
As part of Cypher’s acquisition, we explored different options for the future of the protocol and the CYPR token. We genuinely looked at whether the protocol could continue independently. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible. The structure of the acquisition required us to wind down the existing protocol and discontinue the CYPR ecosystem as part of the transition.
We know this is disappointing, especially for those who have supported us from the beginning. That’s exactly why we’re announcing this openly, publishing a clear transition plan, and giving everyone advance notice instead of allowing uncertainty or speculation.
Throughout Cypher’s journey, we’ve always tried to put our community first — whether through one of the largest community airdrops in the ecosystem, continuous product improvements, responsive customer support, or regular communication. That commitment doesn’t change during the wind-down. Our goal is to handle this transition with the same transparency and respect that we’ve always aimed to show our community.
